Important point! If a visitor has cleared their browser’s cookies or uses another browser or device to access your site, then Convead will not be able to recognize them and will create a new visitor in the system.

The only way to avoid this is to send your own visitor ID from your website (see how to collect more information about your visitors).

The visit begins with the receipt of information about the first action of the visitor on the site (visit to a page). At the same time, while the visitor is making any of the following actions their visit is considered active, and the status of the visitor is set to “Online”:

• transition to any internal link
• clicking on the mailto link
• downloading of a file

While the visitor is on the page, Convead’s code sends information every few seconds that the visitor is still on the site. If more than 5 minutes pass since the last event was received, but messages about the user’s activity still come from the site, the visitor is transferred to the status “Sleep”. This can happen, for example, if a user leaves a tab with your site open for a long time, but does not use it.

If within 5 minutes after the transition to “Sleep” no more events from the visitor arrive, they are transferred to the status “Offline” and their visit is considered complete. Thus, the visit is completed when the total visitor inactivity time on the site exceeds 10 minutes. If the visitor continues to use the site after that, it will be considered a new visit.
