Widget types

In Convead you can create different types of widgets: pop-up, topper, footer, notification, and built-in form. They differ in screen position and behavior.

The widget type is selected immediately when it is created – at the “Template” step:

Let’s examine the features of each type of widget in detail.

1. Pop-up window

This is a classic pop-up. It pops up on top of the screen. As long as the visitor does not close it, they will not be able to continue to interact with the site.

This type of widget is the most annoying from the visitor’s point of view. But it has a higher effectiveness than others.

2. Topper

This is a narrow (or not very narrow, depending on how you set it) strip fixed at the top of the screen. The site content scrolls under it. The topper can be folded and then, if needed, expanded back.

3. Footer

A footer is the same as a topper, but it is located at the bottom of the screen. The page can be scrolled under it. It can be collapsed and expanded.

Footers and toppers are much less intrusive than pop-ups. However, their conversion rate is usually lower.

4. Notification

This interesting widget type is a cross between a pop-up and a topper/footer. Externally, it looks like a pop-up, but it does not overlap the screen. The visitor can interact with the website, press buttons, etc. The widget will not inconvenience them.

It can be at the top or the bottom of the page, to the right or to the left. Most often, these widgets are used for personal notifications: this product is watched by X people; free shipping from 2,000 rubles; stocks of X are running low. However, it is not very effective for prompting visitors to subscribe to mailings or register for discounts.

5. Built-in form

This type of widget differs from others in that it does not pop up, but is embedded in the site content. When you scroll the page, the widget scrolls with it. In order to insert it on the website, you need to register a line of code in the HTML page. To do this, you will need the help of a webmaster.

Built-in forms are most often used as a form of mailing subscription or as a promotional banner that leads to the desired section of the site. In terms of intrusiveness, the built-in form can be called the most loyal widget. It does not pop up, does not overlap the content, and does not interfere with the visitor. Conversion rates via the built-in form are usually quite low.

It can’t be said that one type of widget is better or worse than the others. Choose which type to use based on your objectives and the reactions of your visitors.
